What is the Monterey Peninsula For Life Program?

MPFL includes Pro Life positions but is much more than just a statement of belief.  MPFL Program is an Action Plan to save the lives of our unborn children and also to provide healing and reconciliation to those who are post abortive victims.  The following diagram outlines the three cornerstones of MPFL, Prevention, Intervention, and Reconciliation and the key components to accomplish each one of the cornerstones.

Stepping Stone to Life

Cornerstones to Life

Action Planning For Life:

When you first become involved in the Pro Life Movement, there are two issues that confront you immediately.  One, the sheer size of the task to eliminate the annual killing of 1.5 million babies in the US and over 32 million world-wide.  Two, you or your local group seem to be somewhat isolated and there does not seem to be any organization you can join to make yourself more effective.  These issues are daunting until you remember Philippians 4:13 when Paul writes, “I (we) can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (us)”.  Only God can work in the hearts of all of the abortionists, the politicians and those who would seek to perpetuate and expand abortion.  But, we, in our local communities, reaching out to as many as we can outside of our own churches and communities, can make a difference through Prayer, Fasting, and Implementing the MPFL Program that includes Prevention, Intervention, and Reconciliation.

The Plan:

Prevention:

Prevention begins with telling our youth and young adults the truth about the reproductive functions and responsibilities; the truth that life begins at conception and the real life cycles of the baby in the womb; the horrible realities of STDs, and the facts about birth control; finally, the real Life Choices if pregnancy occurs.  Our youth and young adults are bombarded with the “joys of sex” and that any consequences can quickly and “painlessly” be quickly disposed of through abortion.  This indoctrination begins with the Girl Scouts and is embedded in sex education textbooks, the media, and pop culture.  We have to break this cycle if we are to reduce the abortion prone candidates.

Below is a graphic showing the 3 levels of education needed to begin the Prevention program:

Prevention

Prevention

The steps needed to implement this the Prevention Program include the following.   (remember that prevention also includes intervention for victims of incest and making women knowledgeable who to avoid situations where rape could occur)

Preteen Education
  • Age appropriate discussions of reproductive functions for males and females.
  • Age appropriate discussions of the life-cycle of a baby in the womb.
  • Age appropriate discussions of pro-life choices in the event of pregnancy.
  • Safety Precautions to be Taken to Lessen the Chances of Rape
  • What to Do if You are the Victim of Incest (Often Prepubescent Victims)

Teen Education

  • Age appropriate discussions of reproductive functions for males and females.
  • Age appropriate discussions of the life-cycle of a baby in the womb.
  • Age appropriate discussions of Birth Control, STDs, HIV etc..
  • Age appropriate discussions of pro-life choices in the event of pregnancy.
  • Safety Precautions to be Taken to Lessen the Chances of Rape
  • What to Do if You are the Victim of Incest

  • Age appropriate discussions of pro-life choices in the event of pregnancy.
  • Safety Precautions to be Taken to Lessen the Chances of Rape
  • What to Do if You are the Victim of Incest (May Not Have Reported Earlier)

Intervention:

Intervention is a little more complex than the Prevention solution as it deals with men and women who have already conceived and are pregnant and are abortion prone.  There are 3 methods for converting those who are abortion prone.  Sidewalk Counseling, Counseling at a Crisis Pregnancy Center, and Counseling in a Mobile Clinic offering free sonograms.  There is also a need for legal intervention if the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest.  The diagram below shows these areas of Intervention:

Intervention

Intervention

The steps needed to implement the Intervention program include the following.  (the steps for rape and incest are also included as we are treating the whole problem)

Sidewalk Intervention
  • Abortion Clinic Sidewalk Counseling
  • Create handout materials for Non Abortion Options
  • Create Counselor Training Programs  (Need Rape/Incest Victim Specialists)
  • Train Counselors on Abortion Options and dealing with rape and incest victims.
  • Referral to non abortion crisis pregnancy centers.  (Need a program to take the victims directly to the center if possible)
Pro Life Clinic Intervention
  • Abortion Clinic Sidewalk Referral Program to the crisis pregnancy centers
  • Create handout materials for Non Abortion Options
  • Create Counselor Training Programs (Need Rape Victim Specialists)
  • Train Counselors on Abortion Options and dealing with rape and incest victims.
Pro Life Mobile Clinic Intervention  (Assumes a Local Mobile Sonogram/Clinic Van)
  • Create a Mobile Clinic Sidewalk Program for area Abortion Clinics.
  • Create handout materials for Non Abortion Options

  • Train Counselors on Effective Ways to Get the mothers and fathers into the Mobile Clinic.
  • Invite Rape Victim Abortion Candidates to Come Into the Mobile Clinic for Free Pregnancy Testing and Sonogram
Legal Intervention (Rape or Incest)
  • Create a Law Enforcement Referral Program for Rape/Incest Victims

  • Sidewalk Counselors May be able to Determine if Law Enforcement has been Contacted on the Rape/Incest
  • Mobile Clinic Counselors May be able to Determine if Law Enforcement has been Contacted on the Rape/Incest

Reconciliation:

The final third of our program is Reconciliation for those women and men who have had abortions.  Why is Reconciliation important?  For at least two important reasons.  One, these men and women are also victims of our society’s secular abortion lies who are hurting spiritually and emotionally and who often suffer with forms of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome resulting from the abortion and their decision to end the life of their own baby.  Two, it is a Christian and moral imperative for us to help those who are living through the horrors of abortion and their decision to kill their own baby.  Reconciliation is difficult as we must coax those in suffering out of the shadows of our churches and out of their own self-imposed spiritual exiles.  Once we have our Reconciliation Program in place, we must then use all forms of community outreach and social media available to us to attract those needing assistance.  Reconciliation is a process that involves only love and compassion and there is no room for blame or condemnation…
MPFL has integrated the Rachael’s Vineyard program into the core of our Reconciliation Program.  This program is non denominational and features the full range of counselor training and retreat assistance.  It is a part of the “Priests for Life” ministry but the retreats can be sponsored by all denominations.  There will be no attempt to proselytize or convert you to Christianity, we only seek to help you be free of the bondage of abortion.   Rachael’s Vineyard is an international organization founded under the tutelage of Theresa Karminski Burke, PhD. dating back to her work in 1986 working with post abortive women.  Currently, Rachel’s Vineyard has grown to over 700 retreats annually, held in 47 states and 25 countries, with many new sites in development.
The following graphic outlines the Reconciliation Program:

  • Create a Specialized Post Rape/Incest, Post Abortion Training Program for Counselors
  • Train Counselors and new Counselors on an Ongoing Basis
Create a Community Outreach Program to Promote Counseling Services

While there is a lot more detail to each of the three Program Solution Groups, Prevention, Intervention, and Reconciliation. perhaps this outline will help you and those you interact with to understand the width and breadth of the required abortion solutions and the need for assistance from everyone in your community.  Whether it be those who pray, fast, become sidewalk counselors, raise funds for materials or for even a mobile clinic van, or who become Rachael’s Vineyard Counselors and help those in need of reconciliation, there is a lot of work to do.  It is the most rewarding work you will ever undertake.  The sight of one saved baby from abortion will be a memory you will have forever.  The task is big, but we are not alone.  “We can do all things through Christ who Strengthens Us”.
